Mr. Sukums is an Assistant Lecturer at the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Muhimbili University of Health Allied Sciences. He holds Bachelor of Science, and Masters of Science in Computer Science both from the University of Dar es Salaam awarded in 2002 and 2009 respectively. He has worked extensively in areas of staff and student training and support in ICT matters, ICT management, networking, e-learning management, data management, web technologies and development. He has also provided ICT support research projects acting as ICT consultant and focal person for LIPHEA, QUALMAT, MEDISHARE. He has wide experience in ICT consultancy works in areas web applications development, ICT policy and security, system analysis and development.
Some of the organizations he worked as a consultant include Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, JICA, Ministry of Finance, TACAIDS, Millennium Challenge Account-Tanzania. His areas of interest include information system analysis, testing, deployment, adoption and usability, eLearning and web technologies and electronic health applications. His master dissertation was on Study on User Involvement and Satisfaction in the Implementation of a Computerized Hospital Information Management System: A Case Study of Muhimbili National Hospital, Tanzania. He joined the University of Heidelberg in Germany in November 2010 for doctoral studies in medical informatics under QUALMAT project whereby he is currently conducting research studies on implementation, adoption and usability of an electronic clinical decision support system for maternal and newborn care in rural primary health care facilities in Africa.
