Short Course on Advanced Microcomputer Applications

INTRODUCTION

The Directorate of ICT offers a short course on Advanced Microcomputer Applications. The course is designed to provide participants with advanced skills on Microsoft Office Applications, especially those who work with long documents like Masters and PhD theses, Books, Reports, and Research Proposals with long budgets that need to be adjusted to suit funders’ demands etc. To maximize skill levels, extensive use of PC lab for practical is adopted with each participant given access to a computer.

 AIM

The aim for this course is to equip participants with advanced skills on how to use Microsoft office application software, to work with long documents, demanding budgets, graphical analysis and to prepare resource demanding presentations.

 LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course participants shall be able to:

  • Work with the advanced Ms word features such as:
  • Indexes and Tables
  • Collaborating on documents
  • Mail merges for multiple letters, envelops and labels
  • Reviewing techniques such as track changes, and work with comments
  • Use Word 2010 with other programs
  • Use Advanced Ms Excel features such as:
  • Using conditional formatting;
  • Views, Scenarios, Goal Seek And Solver
  • Creating charts and graphs from spread sheet data;
  • Work with graphic objects and diagrams within a spread sheet;
  • Applying more advanced mathematical functions to spread sheet data,
  • Applying advanced filtering and sorting of spread sheet data;
  • Working with records and fields;
  • Work with Advanced PowerPoint features includding:
  • Adding animation and special effects to a presentation;
  • designing custom animation;
  • Adding organization charts and diagrams to a presentation;
  • Setting up a slide master;
  • Adding custom timing to slide objects for hassle free presentations;
  • Adding hyperlinks to a presentation; and
  • Adding audio and video clips to a presentation

ELIGIBILITY - Who Can Attend?

The course targets individuals interested in acquiring advanced skills on the Microsoft Office Application Software from both public as well as private sectors.

 TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The course will involve brief lectures, extensive hands-on laboratory exercises, presentations, discussions and demonstrations.

 COURSE DURATION

The course duration is 2 weeks. Classes are conducted from Mondays, Wednesdays and on Fridays for two hours starting from 14:00pm to 16:00pm atMUHAS Campus.

 APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Application forms can be collected from the Director’s Office, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) – MUHAS or it can be downloaded from the website.

COURSE FEES

The course fees is Two Hundred Thousands Tanzania Shillings (TSH 200,000/=) per participant. All Payments should be done in full before the course starts.

You can pay directly to MUHAS Accounts Department and submit a copy of the receipt to the Director’s office (ICT) or through the National Micro-Finance Bank (NMB), Muhimbili Branch, MUHAS Bank Account Number: 20901100002 and submit your original bank deposit slip to Accounts Office and a copy to the ICT Director’s Office for registration.

CERTIFICATES

Upon satisfactory completion of the course requirements and a minimum of 90% attendance, participants will be issued with Certificate of Completion.
